Six recipients of the Sheridan College Foundation (SCF) Faculty Staff Grants have been awarded $11,959 to address college needs and encourage innovation. The SCF Faculty Staff Grants were established in 2007 to encourage opportunities and innovation and to support needs not funded by the SC budget. The maximum amount available for each grant is $3,000 with a total of $12,000 available for funding.
“This year’s applications were very competitive,” said Scott Davis, SCF Grants Committee chairman. “The committee was impressed with the applications and it was challenging to make a decision. It is very gratifying to be able to award funds to help our students at Sheridan College.”
Grants were awarded to Katrina Brown for laptop computers for student checkout in the library; Kevin Fox for automated cutting and welding technology; Dr. Christian Erickson for a sound reinforcement laptop computer in the music department; and Carl Schiner in the welding department for a manifold for straight line cutting system. Funding support was also provided to June Biss in the Dental Hygiene department for Kindergarten Day and Wendy Ostlind for Pharmacology for Nurses – an integrated curriculum in the nursing program.
