Grants Awarded to Sheridan College Faculty and Staff

Six recipients of the Sheridan College Foundation (SCF) Faculty Staff Grants have been awarded $11,959 to address college needs and encourage innovation. The SCF Faculty Staff Grants were established in 2007 to encourage opportunities and innovation and to support needs not funded by the SC budget. The maximum amount available for each grant is $3,000 with a total of $12,000 available for funding.

“This year’s applications were very competitive,” said Scott Davis, SCF Grants Committee chairman. “The committee was impressed with the applications and it was challenging to make a decision. It is very gratifying to be able to award funds to help our students at Sheridan College.”

Grants were awarded to Katrina Brown for laptop computers for student checkout in the library; Kevin Fox for automated cutting and welding technology; Dr. Christian Erickson for a sound reinforcement laptop computer in the music department; and Carl Schiner in the welding department for a manifold for straight line cutting system. Funding support was also provided to June Biss in the Dental Hygiene department for Kindergarten Day and Wendy Ostlind for Pharmacology for Nurses – an integrated curriculum in the nursing program.  (Read More)

Sheridan College Foundation awards up to $12,000 in grants to Sheridan College employees each fall. The purpose of the Sheridan College Foundation Faculty Staff Grants is to provide funding assistance for projects that are not supported by the existing Sheridan College budget but do support the Sheridan College mission –  Creating student success and making a difference in our communities through educational leadership.”

With these grants, Sheridan College Foundation encourages innovation and opportunity.

Grant awards have supported classroom resources such as anatomy and physiology models, program development, technical equipment, wellness activities for employees, student opportunities such as music workshops and concerts, and more. Many of the awards fulfill needs not funded through the college budget and they support opportunities to bring added value to the student and/or employee experience at Sheridan College. Grant applications are thoughtfully reviewed and selected by a committee of Sheridan College Foundation board members.

The foundation encourages the employees of Sheridan College and Johnson County Campus to apply for grants up to $3000. Please review the guidelines and the application carefully and submit your grant request.
